Dashcam video of chase that led to fatal officer-involved shooting of Girard man released
Dashcam video has been released that shows the man who was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting earlier this month.
The video is from the multi-community chase between police officers and 50-year-old Fred Wild III of Girard from March 20. The chase began in Lordstown and traveled through multiple areas before ending when his car got stuck on railroad tracks on Merwin Chase Road in Brookfield.
Wild evaded police that night but was shot and killed by officers the next day.
Police shot Wild in the early morning hours of March 21 after he allegedly drove a stolen pick-up truck with a snowplow at them. Authorities were alerted to Wild after a 911 call reporting a "dangerous suspect" was trespassing in a cabin on private property.
The Trumbull County Coroner ruled the shooting death a homicide.
The shooting is still under investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The officers involved in the shooting have not been identified.
