Family, children flee from burning home on Youngstown's East Side

The Ohio Fire Marshal is helping the Youngstown Fire Department investigate after a family, including four children, escaped from their East Side Youngstown home as flames raced through it early Monday.
The fire broke out before 4 a.m. inside the house on the 700 block of Coitsville-Hubbard Road near the Ohio Penitentiary.
The first reports indicated that there were four children inside. Firefighters reported that the children and two other people got out.
Several ambulances were dispatched for a total of six patients. However, 21 News spotted two of them in an ambulance. 21 News is working to learn the extent of injuries.
Two family dogs died in the fire.
The fire spread so rapidly, the fire department decided to work on making sure the flames were contained to the home and did not spread elsewhere.
It is believed that the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
