Austintown man accused of stealing concrete wolf lawn ornament from Niles home

An Austintown man is jailed on a $50,000 bond after police tracked him down for allegedly stealing a concrete wolf lawn ornament from someone’s front yard in Niles.
Police issued a warrant for the arrest of 55-year-old Robert Scott six days after someone got out of a truck in front of a home on Summit Avenue, and loaded up a decorative wolf statue before driving away.
In addition to crediting detective work, Niles Police credit the city’s Flock camera system, and tips that came in after the department posted a video of the theft which included an image of the chassis-only Chevy Truck used to haul away the cumbersome statue.
Police say they impounded the truck over the weekend and Scott returned the statue to the home.
On Monday, Scott was arraigned in Niles Municipal Court where he pleaded not guilty.
Another hearing in the case is set for April 26.
