Kennywood working with state police to enhance security at park

Kennywood is getting ready to open in just under two weeks and the amusement park is working to enhance its security.
A joint meeting was held with representatives from Kennywood, the Allegheny County District Attorney's office, and the Pennsylvania State Police, to discuss ongoing security enhancements at the park last Wednesday.
During the meeting, Kennywood shared with law enforcement the extent of the efforts it had undertaken to upgrade security at the park over the past eight months, including a significant increase in police presence, improvements to the fence line surrounding the park and the implementation of a chaperone policy.
Law enforcement and Kennywood pledged to work together toward a safe and secure environment at the park for all employees and guests.
The Allegheny County Chiefs of Police Association will also review the Association's Model Active Shooter and Critical Incident Command protocols.
Kennywood Park opens for its 125th Season on April 22, 2023.
