Trumbull Co. Prosecutor argues against parole of 'serial child rapist'

TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - The Trumbull County Prosecutor is arguing against the parole of a serial child rapist.
Prosecutor Dennis Watkins wrote to the Ohio Adult Parole Authority Monday arguing against the release of 72-year-old Clyde T. Bush.
Watkins was the lead prosecutor on Bush's case back in 1989 which ended with him being convicted on eight counts of child rape and five counts of gross sexual imposition. Bush was handed eight concurrent life sentences following the convictions.
In the letter, Watkins called Bush "the worst of the worst of serial rapists of little children in pure numbers ever seen in Trumbull County."
According to Watkins, Bush raped or molested 10 different children between the ages of two and six over a two-year period.
Watkins likened his reasoning for keeping Bush behind bars to the reasoning the State of California applied when denying Robert F. Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan parole earlier this year. He said Bush has not developed "the accountability and insight required to support his safe release into the community."
Bush was previously denied parole four times, including in 2014, 2019 and January 2023.
He's been held in the Marion Correctional Institution since 1990.
