AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown man is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing money from a donation stand outside of the Austintown Walmart.

According to the police report, officers were called to the area around 2:53 p.m. Friday.

The suspect, 19-year-old Tshombe Miller Jr., allegedly stole money from the Disabled American Veterans donation stand and ran through the parking lot toward Wilcox Road.

Police searched the woods in that area and were told a person matching Miller's description was seen running towards Tractor Supply, just passed the wooded area.

Reports say officers located Miller in the restroom of Tractor Supply and took him into custody.

Two volunteers for the Disabled American Veterans were working the stand and both were over 70 years old. The volunteers told police Miller acted like he was going to make a donation when he swiped the bucket.

A concerned citizen saw Miller running with the money and tried to chase him but fell and had to be treated by paramedics for a knee injury.

According to the report, officers searched Miller who was found to have $160 and a bottle of Parrot Bay alcohol on him. Miller also had three watches on each wrist and two rings on his hand.

After police reviewed security footage, it was found that Miller had concealed those items and ripped the labels off of them while at Walmart.

Miller was taken to the Mahoning County Jail where he is being held on two counts of theft.
