Sharon officials to reveal more Monday on State Tower investigation

An official from the City of Sharon says there is more than unpaid water and sewer bills behind the situation that has forced tenants out of their State Tower apartments.
In a news release announcing a 1:30 p.m. Tuesday press conference, Downtown Development Director Sherris Moreira said the city is waiting to provide more information once the City Code and Fire Department has completed their assessment report of the building.
The situation is far more complicated than water and sanitary bills in massive arrears with indicators pointing to building safety concerns,” said Moreira who added that more details will be provided at Monday’s press conference when the city releases the details of the assessment report.
Notices from the city have been taped to apartment doors telling tenants inside that they need to find another place to live.
All 200 tenants at the apartment building have been living without water for days because landlord Joe Fusco hasn’t paid the sewage bill, even though tenants said rent was collected on April 1.
A judge has issued a bench warrant for Fusco who, according to court records, has been charged with 17 counts of failure to secure a rental license. A summary trial for Fusco is scheduled for May 1.
