Three days in jail for man who stole Disabled Vets donation jar from Austintown Walmart

AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - A Youngstown man is spending the next three days in jail after stealing money from a donation stand outside of the Austintown Walmart.
Tshombe Miller Jr. 19, was sentenced after pleading guilty on Wednesday to two misdemeanor theft charges in county court in Austintown.
According to a police report, officers were called to Walmart on April 7 to investigate a report that money had been taken from the Disabled American Veterans donation stand.
Two DAV volunteers working the donation stand told police a man who was acting as if he was going to make a donation, grabbed the bucket, and ran.
A concerned citizen saw the suspect running with the money and tried to chase him but fell and had to be treated by paramedics for a knee injury.
Witnesses said the suspect ran through the parking lot toward Wilcox Road.
After searching a nearby wooded area, police were told a person matching Miller's description was seen running towards Tractor Supply, just west of Walmart.
Officers say they found Miller hiding in the restroom of Tractor Supply, where he was arrested.
According to the report, officers who searched Miller found $160 and a bottle of Parrot Bay alcohol on him. Miller also had three watches on each wrist and two rings on his hand.
After police reviewed security footage, it they say they found that Miller concealed the items while at Walmart.
Miller is scheduled to be released from jail this weekend when he completes his sentence.
