Austintown woman pleads to reduced charge in death of infant

YOUNGSTOWN - An Austintown woman will face sentencing in June for the death of her infant child in 2021.
Ashley Williams, 35, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of reckless homicide in Judge John Durkin's court Monday morning .
Williams had originally been charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangering in the death of her two-month -old son, Dalvin, in July of 2021.
Williams told police at the time that she had left the child on a pillow in a bassinet while she went upstairs to get changed and that when she came back down, he wasn't breathing.
She later admitted to police that she hadn't seen the child in more than eight hours before discovering him unresponsive.
The coroner ruled that baby's death was caused by unsafe sleeping conditions.
Williams is scheduled to be sentenced on June 9.
