Hubbard store sells $25,000 a year for life lottery ticket

Someone who bought a lottery ticket at a Hubbard convenience store is a little richer today.
According to the Ohio Lottery Commission, an auto-pick Lucky for Life ticket purchased at the East End Express mini-mart on East Liberty Street had five of the six numbers selected in Wednesday night’s drawing.
The ticket did not have the lucky ball number which would have meant a prize of $1,000 a day for life.
However, the five winning numbers entitle the ticket holder to $25,000 a year for life, before taxes, or a $390,000 cash option payment before taxes.
By law, the Ohio Lottery will withhold 25% federal and 3% state tax on any prize won. The winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim the prize.
East End Express receives a $2,500 sales bonus.
Ohio joined the group selling Lucky for Life on November 15, 2015, and is currently one of 23 U.S. jurisdictions selling the game. The drawing is conducted by the Connecticut Lottery.
This is Ohio’s 41st winner of the $25,000-a-year-for-life prize, the game’s second-tier prize. The last $25,000-a-year-for-life prize was sold at a Circle K in Akron for the December 16, 2023, drawing. That ticket has yet to be claimed.
In addition, Ohio has had six winners of the top prize -- $1,000-a-day-for-life.
