A historic building in Downtown Youngstown has received a major facelift.

The Gallagher building, which was once used for Strouss-Hirshberg and G.M. McKelvy Company operations, and later housed live music venue, Cedars Lounge has been transformed.

Property Manager, John Angelilli told 21 News this makeover was at least two years in the making after his brother and some partners purchased it a few years ago.

The building is turning into 41 studio-style apartments, six of which are Air BNBs. Apartments will cost around $900 to $1,400 per month and Air BNBs will cost around $900.

The lower level will act as a restaurant and sports bar, which will also include a patio with a tiki bar.

"We're going to do a YSU varsity club dedicated to YSU sports, but really for all sports enthusiasts," Angelilli said.

Angelilli went on to talk about the patio stating that he hopes to have movie nights and comedy nights on it when the weather gets warmer.

"It's going to be spectacular, and I hope the whole community comes down and joins us and enjoys the property," Angelilli said.
