Smoke, flames break out at Brandywine Apartments in Youngstown

A fire broke out at an apartment complex on Youngstown's West Side, forcing people living there to evacuate.
Youngstown Fire Captain David Cook says crews were met with heavy smoke flames that started in the closet of an apartment on the second floor.
Three apartments attached to the unit that caught fire, and the floor above and below have significant smoke damage.
It's unclear what sparked the blaze, one neighbor who lives right above where the unit say her and her son were eating dinner when they say smoke outside of their window
"I proceeded to the stairwell, it was totally smoked up, I could not get out the stairwell, I had to come out the front door, and I was pounding on doors warning them to get out," said Brandywine Apartments resident Carol Kramarich.
One residents sustained minor burns to his arm, while paramedics checked vitals for another woman.
The red cross will available for anyone impacted by the fire. The State Fire Marshall will be in to investigate tomorrow morning.
