A Mercer County man was transported by a medical helicopter to treat severe injuries following a fiery crash.

State Police say 20-year-old Camaron Gallagher of Clarks Mills was driving a Chevy Cobalt that went off Perry Highway in Fairview Township Friday night.

The car veered into a yard, went airborne, struck several trees, and caught fire, trapping Gallegher in the car.

A bystander who heard the crash used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.

The driver was rescued from the wreck and stabilized by the Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department and Superior Ambulance.

Gallagher was flown by a Stat Medevac helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown with serious injuries.

Police suspect the driver may have been under the influence.
