Fitness court could be coming to Huntington Bank space in Downtown Sharon

SHARON, Pa. - A new fitness court could potentially be on its way to the former Huntington Bank property in Sharon.
Sharon Community Development Block Program Grant (CDBPG) Program Manager, Suzanne Kepple tells 21 News the idea was given to them by the National Fitness Campaign, a campaign who works with municipalities, cities, counties and schools to build outdoor fitness courts.
Kepple says this project would cost between $150,000 and $170,000. A grant from the National Fitness Campaign provided $30,000 worth of funds. Kepple says if the city applies for more grants, the campaign will continue to help with marketing as well as sponsorship and donation packages.
Upon completion, the fitness court would be a 35x35 square foot green space area near Penn State Shenango's campus allowing for easy access to students. It would also be near various trails and walkways throughout the city.
The court would offer free standing equipment for multiple different exercise styles including Core, Squats, Push, Lunge, Pull, Agility and Bend. An outline of what the course would look like is pictured below.

Kepple tells 21 News City Council will have to approve of the purchase order for this course at the end of the year giving the city time to come up with the funds necessary to make this project a reality.
