Norfolk Southern moves East Palestine Assistance Center
Norfolk Southern's Family Assistance Center has been moved to a smaller, more permanent location that railroad officials say will remain for at least the next two years.
According to Norfolk Southern representatives, community members may go to the center's new location at 191 East Rebecca Street in East Palestine to report losses due to the derailment.
People are advised to bring the following items to the Assistance Center:
Driver’s license or other government-issued identification, and Social Security card
Proof of residency within the evacuation zone (e.g. current utility bill, etc.)
For minors residing in the household, proof of dependency (e.g. Social Security card)
Receipts for any expenses incurred while evacuated from your home
The center opens Tuesday, May 30 at 12 p.m.
Hours of operation:
Monday–Friday: 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m.– 4 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
