Green Twp. man receives early end to child porn sentence

A Green Township man was approved for early release from incarceration for his 2016 child pornography conviction sentence.
60-year-old Darryl Hipps appeared in court Wednesday morning in front of Judge John Durkin for his judicial release hearing.
Judge Durkin approved the early release and placed Hipps on a 5-year probation and ordered he to complete a program at the Community Corrections Association.
State prosecutors requested that the motion for release be denied.
Durkin was originally sentenced Hipps to 10 years in prison for child pornography convictions in 2016.
In 2016, Hipps plead guilty to possessing child pornography on his computer and sharing materials on the internet.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction will review the case before Hipps is sent to the CCA.
Hipps must register as a Tier II sex offender.
