Niles man pleads guilty to kidnapping woman

A Niles man accused of kidnapping a woman in November 2022 has pleaded guilty to a number of charges.
Jeffrey Green, 35, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment of burglary, attempted felonious assault, and kidnapping.
Green was arrested in November 2022 after allegedly taping a woman's mouth shut and taking her to a garage.
Police were called to a home on Olive Street in Niles for a welfare check after a friend who was video chatting with the victim heard her tell a man to leave her house.
According to the police report, the victim told the friend she had heard noises inside her house and then said her ex-boyfriend's name. The friend told officers that the video chat ended abruptly.
At the Olive Street home, police did not find Green or the victim inside and went to Green's home on Peffer Street. Green's roommate let officers inside but again did not find them.
The friend of the victim told police that Green also owned a garage on Fulton Avenue in Warren. Police checked the garage and Green surrendered to police.
According to the report, the victim said Green was hiding inside her house, forced her downstairs and duct taped her mouth before hitting her and forcing her into his car.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
