Ohio AG: Case against fake East Palestine charity dismissed after 'good faith discussions'

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - The case against a fake charity claiming to benefit East Palestine residents affected by February's train derailment has been dismissed.
According to the office of Ohio Attorney General, Dave Yost, the office filed a voluntary notice of dismissal on Friday because they're in "good faith discussions to resolve the matter with the fund."
The case involved Mike Peppel, who according to Yost presented his Ohio Clean Water fund as a non-profit organization acting on behalf of the Second Harvest Food Bank to provide residents with emergency aid and bottled water.
However, representatives of the Second Harvest Food Bank complained to Yost that they had not authorized the partnership, confronting Peppel twice and demanding him to stop advertising the non-existent partnership.
Yost's representatives tell us the filing is sufficient and no court approval is needed.
