Cavanaugh on ballot for College Football Hall of Fame
He was the quarterback at Pitt in the late 1970's

Chaney product at University of Pittsbugh quarterback Matt Cavanaugh is the on the ballot for the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame.
Seventy Eight players and nine coaches from FBS are on the ballot and 101 players and 32 coaches from the divisional ranks.
The voting deadline is June 30.
Cavanaugh, Pittsburgh-Quarterback-1977 First Team All-American who led the Panthers to a 1976 national title…Led Pitt to three consecutive bowl wins, earning MVP honors in the 1977 Sugar and 1977 Gator bowls…Finished Pitt career ranked second all-time (behind only Tony Dorsett) with 3,916 career yards of total offense.
