Sebring woman accused of assaulting developmentally challenged 6-year-old

A 29-year-old woman is in jail, accused of abusing a six-year-old developmentally challenged boy at her boyfriend’s Sebring home.
Vanessa Faucett was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Friday, charged with assault, child endangering, and domestic violence.
Smith Township Police began the investigation after learning from Children’s Services that the boy came to school with a bruise on his face.
The boy told investigators that Faucett had pulled his hair, hit him in the face, and spanked him.
Interviewed by police, Faucett told officers she believed that the injuries were caused when the boy fell from his bed.
Doctors at Akron Children’s Hospital reported that the child had bruises on his head, face, and buttocks which they believe were the result of abuse, and not a fall from a short toddler’s bed.
Faucett is scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges next week.
If she bonds out of jail, a judge has ordered that she have no contact with the child.
