Trustees, Eastwood Mall honoring Fitch state softball champs

AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - A couple of events are scheduled this week to honor the Austintown Fitch Softball Team’s first state championship title.
One of the top items on the Austintown Township Trustee’s agenda Monday night is the presentation of a proclamation to the state champs. The trustees’ regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Then at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the Eastwood Mall is hosting a Champions Rally to honor the team at the mall’s Center Court.
The Cafaro Foundation will also make a donation to Austintown Fitch High School. Friends and fans of the team are invited to attend.
Earlier this month The Austintown Fitch softball team captured the Division I State Championship after beating Anthony Wayne, 6-1, at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
The Falcons capped off an undefeated season with their first softball state championship in school history.
Sophomore pitcher Sydnie Watts (21-0) had 12 strikeouts in the game.
