SHARON, Pa. - This time of year 21 News is used to reporting on fire departments rescuing tiny animals like ducklings trapped in sewers. But Sharon firefighters came to the aid of larger wildlife in need of help.
On Sunday dispatchers sent members of the city fire department to help a deer that was trapped in an open storm drain near an industrial area.
Using a team effort that also included Sharon Police, The Fish and Boat Commission, and the Sharon Public Works department, the animal was successfully rescued and freed.
The storm drain, which city officials say was far off the beaten path, is now covered.
There is no information on how long the deer was trapped.
