Podcast: What you need to know about challenges to August 8 election and the grassroot efforts to stop it

The Republican-controlled Ohio Supreme Court is being asked to reject a move by the GOP strong majority in the Ohio General Assembly to undermine the one-person-one-vote principle that underpins our American democracy.
A lawsuit filed by One Person One Vote, one of the many groups opposed to an August special election set up last week by Republicans in the House and Senate contends that legislators violated a law that went into effect in January banning special elections in August.
A second lawsuit filed by One Person One vote challenges the language adopted by the Ohio Ballot Board pertaining to the August ballot issue.
Joining the Scribbler Podcast host Bertram de Souza is longtime Valley journalist Cynthia Rickard, Dennis Willard, a veteran journalist who is now spokesman for one of the groups fighting the August special election, and Dr. Alexis Smith and Dave Grager, who are in the forefront of the petition campaign to place the reproductive health issue on the November ballot.
In the podcast, the Scribbler Group discusses the lawsuits that are before the Ohio Supreme Court, and also talk about how the numerous grassroots organizations, political entities, and other groups plan to campaign against the August 8 issue.
