STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Eastern Gateway Community College President, Michael Geoghegan has announced on Friday that he will be retiring as President after nearly seven years of service.

Geoghegan will step down from his position in June of 2024. In the meantime, Eastern Gateway will name an interim president from within the college, and a search for a new permanent president will begin in the fall.

Geoghegan says serving as president has been a privilege and one of the most rewarding experiences in his life.

"Thousands of students have found a path to a brighter future at our college, and I feel so grateful to have been a part of their journey. I'm retiring knowing that the college is in good hands and on a good path," Geoghegan said.

"Throughout his tenure, President Geoghegan served our college with distinction. A fearless leader, he helped transform the school, raising standards and creating incredible opportunities for our students to achieve their dreams. We are thankful that he will be here to help us as we go through this transition," said Board Chair, James Gasior.
