YBI hosts event to help Black business owners in Valley move forward

Local Black entrepreneurs got some insight on how to move their careers forward in the world of business.
The YBI Minority Business Assistance Center hosted the event Friday morning along with the Youngstown Black Arts and Culture Council.
Entrepreneurs at the financial freedom discussion got to network and talk with bankers and lenders to help access funding available for Black business owners.
"A lot of times, our clients are not able to access the capital necessary so they can start on a good foundation for their business. That is still a struggle we find today in our society is equality and equitable funding," Stephanie Gilchrist, Regional Director for the Minority Business Assistance Center of Youngstown said.
Gilchrist says right now, the state of Ohio has half a dozen funding opportunities for minority-owned businesses to take advantage of.
