GIRARD, Ohio -  Firefighters were called to battle flames at a home in Girard early Wednesday.

Dispatchers got a call just after 6 a.m. about a fire at a two-story home on the 200 block of South Market Street.

The first firefighter to arrive reported flames coming from the back of the home.

Crews from fire stations in Liberty Township and McDonald were also dispatched.

Firefighters say residents escaped from the home unharmed. Two pets were rescued.

Most of the damage is on the outside of the home, according to fire officials.

The state fire marshal is looking for the cause of the fire.
