Charlie Staples former owner reflects on legacy in Youngstown

Charlie Staples made his mark on the barbecue industry in Youngstown starting in 1974. Now that his entrepreneurial vision is completed, the grill master is ready to retire.
Before being known as the man who puts a 'cup of love' in his recipes, he was a 20 year old unsatisfied with working in a factory.
"I wasn't fulfilled and I just wanted a business. I wanted my own business," Staples told 21 News.
Staples started in a small shack in Liberty and grew his business to where even America's most famous knew where to go for quality BBQ. Throughout the years, Charlie Staples became the go-to man for his delectable meats and special sauce.
Despite changes in distributors, customer can still taste that touch of love in every bite.
Although he's passing his legacy to new owners, his name and smoky cuisine will continue to be a staple for generations to come.
