The Mahoning County Dog Warden has halted volunteering efforts at its kennel due to concerns of a virus/bacterial outbreak.
According to a Facebook post from the organization, a dog have been hospitalized due to pneumonia. The dog is being tested narrow down the specifics of its infection.
This makes it the second dog that has been hospitalized recently.
The post says many more dogs have kennel cough and it's spreading rapidly throughout the building.
"In an effort to stop the spread within our building and to our volunteer's dogs, we need to stop volunteering until we get this under control," the Warden said in the post.
Volunteering has been put on hold for the remainder of the week.
