Youngstown Police have arrested a man after a violent yard dispute.

Matthew Whittenburger, 24, has been arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and possessing a weapon under disability.

According to police reports, officers responded to reports involving a dispute between Whittenburger and two neighbors over their dog being in his yard.

After an argument between the two parties, police say Whittenburger went into his house and came out brandishing a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an extended clip in his waist band.

The report states Whittenburger pulled the gun out, aimed it at one of the neighbors and threatened to kill them.

Whittenburger initially denied bringing the gun out during the dispute but later admitted he had it in the waist band of his pants.

During a search warrant of Whittenburger's house, officers say they found the handgun and an "undetermined" amount of ammunition lying on a living room chair. An extra magazine for the gun was found in the kitchen, according to the report.

Officers later discovered Whittenburger had an active temporary protection order, which prohibited him from owning a firearm.
