Niles woman faces sentence for crash that injured teen

WARREN, Ohio - A Niles woman could face up to five years in prison when she is sentenced for an accident in which she and three members of her family were injured, one of them seriously.
Jennifer Zurick, 49, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to charges of aggravated vehicular assault and OVI which were filed after a November 13 accident in Howland. Two charges of child endangering were dismissed.
State Troopers say Zurick’s car went over a curb on North Road, striking two mailboxes, a sewer cover, a stop sign, and a utility pole.
Zurick as well as three family members, ages 22, 15, and 14, were taken to a hospital.
Three of the victims had minor injuries. However, court officials tell 21 News that one of the teens suffered a ruptured spleen.
When Zurick is sentenced by Trumbull County Judge Cynthia Rice later, she could face a ten-year driver’s license suspension in addition to a possible prison sentence.
