Saint Joe's demolition in Warren expected to be completed by end of July

WARREN, Ohio - The demolition of the old Saint Joseph's Hospital building in Warren is nearly complete with city officials telling 21 News it's expected to be completed by the end of the month.
According to Warren Urban Design and Grant Coordinator, Lori Lemasters, the St. Joe's demolition project was originally supposed to be completed by the end of June.
However, at Wednesday's Board of Control meeting, the deadline has since been extended to the end of July. Lemasters says the project should be completed by July 31 at the latest.
The hospital's been closed since 1996 following a merger with Mercy Health. Asbestos removal from the property began in July of 2022 in preparation for the demolition, which started around December of 2022.
