Sentencing set Tuesday in Warren child rape case

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man could be sentenced to life in prison when he appears before a judge in Trumbull County on Tuesday.

Shan Newton, 32 is scheduled for sentencing after a jury earlier returned a guilty verdict on three of four charges filed for the rape of a 9-year-old girl in Warren.

Shane Newton, 32, of Louise Lane was convicted of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Newton was secretly indicted by the Trumbull County Grand Jury on two counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition involving someone under the age of thirteen.

Arrested in late August, Newton is held in the Trumbull County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
