SHARON, Pa. - Sharon Police are investigating after a 17-year-old juvenile was stabbed in the stomach on Monday.

According to a press release from Sharon PD, police were called to an apartment complex on the 100 Block of West Budd Street in reference to a male who was stabbed.

Police were able to locate the male victim and provided aid until EMS arrived on scene and took him to the hospital. Police say his injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators were able to locate a suspect identified as Josiah Page who was transported to the Mercer County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and tampering with evidence.

According to a criminal complaint, after police detained Page, he told police that his sister told him some boys were outside of his residence and wanted to speak with him. Page told police he met two males in a hallway outside of the apartment out of view of the security cameras.

Police say Page told them one of the males struck him in the back of the head and an altercation ensued. Page told officers the other male pulled a knife out of his pants pocket and began "flashing it around" at his sister.

Page went on to tell police that's when he pulled a knife out of his pocket, but did not stab or attempt to stab anyone with it. When police asked where the knife was, Page told officers he did not know and that he dropped it in the hallway.

The criminal complaint alleges that Page's tampering with evidence charge stems from him allegedly trying to conceal this knife.

Jail employees confirmed with 21 News that Page has since been released on bond. He was arraigned on Tuesday and will be back in court on Friday, July 21 for a preliminary hearing.

Sharon police is continuing to investigate the situation. If you or anyone you know has any information on this incident, you're asked to call 724-983-3210 or 724-662-6110.
