Safety showers added inside the Lordstown Ultium Cells facility

Last week 21 News reported on alleged safety concerns by two former employees at the Ultium Cells plant in Lordstown, including the lack of safety showers within some departments in the building.
It was confirmed Friday that safety showers have now been added inside the facility, according to Ultium Cells Communication employee Dallis Tripoulis.
Showers were among some of the concerns of two former Ultium employees, Josh Robbins and Justin Piscura, who stated they were suspended for a month and a half after allegedly reporting safety concerns to the company and to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
In an emailed response on the status of the suspended employees and the new safety showers, Tripolulis said, "The employees that you are referencing conducted a coordinated absence from work and work stoppage that was not based on any legitimate safety concern. Their refusal to work was communicated in advance on social media. At the time of their refusals, the work area had all the required safety equipment. Further, the business had already initiated the procurement of more showers for continuous improvement in the area. Ultium Cells completed installation of this additional equipment in plant several weeks ago, and the employees were repeatedly asked to return to work before and after this installation."
