Second Harvest Food Bank has received $250,000 from a foundation in California, according to a release.

The S.L. Gimbel Foundation, a fun at the Inland Empire Community Foundation in Riverside, California, provided the funds.

The money will contribute to over a million meals for the food bank, which prioritizes services for children, seniors, and families in the Mahoning Valley.

“We are grateful to the S. L. Gimbel Foundation for this generous grant that will be used to purchase shelf-stable food and fresh produce,” said Michael Iberis, executive director of the Second Harvest Food Bank. “This grant will help us fill over 14,000 requests for food assistance each week in the tri-county area.”
