Hearing explosions in Newton Falls? Here's why
Explosives and hand grenades will be used during training conducted between Thursday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 26 at the Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center.

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Newton Falls residents may hear some explosions within the next couple of days, but the Ohio National Guard is assuring residents that there is no need to panic.
According to a press release, explosives and hand grenades will be used during training conducted between Wednesday, August 2 and August 3 at the Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center.
Sounds from the explosions may be heard from farther away than what occurs during normal operations.
There will be intermittent gunfire and explosions at the facility during the annual training session, which usually runs through September.
