J.D. Vance introduces legislation that would federally ban gender affirming care for minors

Ohio-based U.S. Senator, J.D. Vance has introduced legislation on Tuesday that would federally ban gender affirming care for minors.
If passed, doctors who perform gender affirming care on a minor could be charged with a Class C felony, and non-U.S. citizens who have performed gender affirming care on minors would be deemed ineligible to receive visas or admittance into the country.
Additionally, the legislation would cease taxpayer funding for such care including under government-sponsored healthcare plans of the Affordable Care Act and prohibit higher education institutions from providing instruction on this care.
"Under no circumstances should doctors be allowed to perform these gruesome, irreversible operations on underage children. With this legislation, we have an opportunity to save countless young Americans from a lifetime of suffering and regret," Senator Vance said.
The legislation will act as companion legislation to HR 1399, introduced by Congresswoman, Marjorie Taylor-Greene.
