COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - Fair and festival season continues in The Valley with the Columbiana County Fair.

In addition to the food and fun, there will be some new adventures at the fairgrounds.

Set up is underway at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. The work for vendors can take a few days to prepare.

"It will take me hours just to get the trailer in, get it level up on blocks and get it all set up with electricity, water, and everything going to it, then I got all the canopies. We set up tables for seating for everybody, then I go running water to the lemonade stand," Jamie Campbell owner of G & G Concessions.

G and G concessions tell us many folks follow them from fair to fair to fair. The favorite at this fair is the Steak Hoagies.

"We have the sausage sandwich the stake hoagies, Philly steaks, we have french fries, the best on the midway to me," Melissa Campbell with G & G Concessions said.

Future Farmers of America and 4-H the fair is a way to showcase their year around hard work.

There will be daily entertainment. Plus plenty of shows, some new some returning for folks to enjoy.

"The All America Petting Zoo, they're also doing pig racing this year, which ought to be interesting. We have the dog show on the upper midway driving dogs, and frisbee trick dogs," President of the Columbiana County Fair John Wolf said.

State-inspected rides are expected to be up and running by Tuesday afternoon.

During the heat, it's important to stay hydrated with water, and you may want to wear or bring sunscreen for you and your kids.

First aid stations are located near the grandstand and by the 4-H animals.

"Like oh, you're feeling a little over-heated, and feel a little dizzy, people stop in here because we have air conditioning. We give you sips of water, scraps, bruises, and sunburns. Sometimes if there is a bit of a higher emergency we do work with emergency personnel such as KLG Ambulance to come in and give a higher level of care and take them to the hospital," Cameron Griggs said.

The food, and fun at this far runs through Sunday, August 8th.

Monday the fair will feature a reduced entry fee of just eight bucks.
