YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Kravitz Deli is celebrating National Deli Month and their Jewish heritage all throughout the month of August.

As Jewish delis continue to decline across the country, the Mahoning Valley has experienced a loss of these businesses as well. In the 1940's, there were five Jewish delicatessens in Youngstown. Now, only Kravitz Delicatessen remains.

Founded in 2016, the national celebration was created to showcase the classic Jewish deli, plus raise money for charitable organizations in the community. The iconic 84-year-old deli will be giving special attention all month to the wide breadth of the traditional deli offerings, such as the meats, cheeses, bakery and party trays.

To celebrate, pastrami and turkey pastrami will also be on sale for $19.99 a pound for all of August.

Kravitz Deli's owner Matthew Rydarowicz will also be donating $1 from every pound of deli meat, salads and Pastrami Northside sandwich or topped fries sold to The Mahoning Valley Fatherhood Coalition.

Rydarowicz will also match customer donations to increase the total amount given the the Fatherhood Coalition.

Any customer who makes a donation during National Deli Month will also be entered into a drawing for a $50 Kravitz gift certificate.
