LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Senator Sherrod Brown has responded to Ultium's letter dismissing calls for a national contract for Lordstown workers.

Senator Brown previously called on the company to fold workers at the Lordstown battery plant into the General Motors National Agreement with United Auto Workers.

On Wednesday, Ultium Cells said that they "[do] not see a viable legal or practical path" for their workers to include themselves in the General Motors National Agreement with the UAW.

In response to this dismissal, Senator Brown released a statement that reads:

"This response is just more excuses from a bunch of overpaid, out-of-touch executives. In case they didn't read my letter the first time, I'll keep it simple: fold your workers into the national UAW contract – just like GM, Ford, and Stellantis -- and pay them what they deserve to be paid."

In December, workers at the Ultium Cells battery plant voted 710 to 16 to unionize as part of the UAW.
