Multiple 2023 Kia and Hyundai vehicles have been recalled this week due to a potential fire hazard.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Kia is recalling certain 2023 Soul and Sportage models, as well as 2023-2024 Seltos vehicles.

The recall is due to reports that the electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that could cause the pump to overheat, which in turn increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

Additionally, multiple Hyundai models including certain 2023 Tucson, Sonata, Elantra and Konda models as well as 2023-2024 Palisade models have been recalled around the same time for the same reason.

If you own any of these recalled Kia models, you're asked to park them outside and away from structures until repairs are completed.

If you believe you own a recalled product, take it to your local Kia or Hyundai dealer and they will inspect it and replace the oil pump controller free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed out by late September of 2023.

Nearly 92,000 vehicles total are affected by this recall.
