Kayakers and canoers will be out on the Shenango River on August 26 as the Second Annual Lake to Lake Paddle Challenge is coming to Mercer County.

Both kayakers and canoers of all skill levels are invited to come together to experience the scenery across the Shenango River while competing for cash prizes of over $5,000.

The event is a timed paddle challenge held on the class 1 Shenango River Water Trail. Competitors have the choice of two races: The 15 mile challenge Adventure Class and 30 mile challenge Competitive Class.

The 30 mile challenge has three singles divisions and one tandem division. Prizes range from $500 to $200. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. at Pymatuning State Park and finishes at the NorthStar Marina on the Shenango River Lake.

The 15 mile challenge has two divisions: Single and Tandem Adventure. The top 10 overall finishers will receive a medal and $50. The race starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Kidd's Mill Covered Bridge and finishes at NorthStar Marina.

Following the races, a post-challenge awards ceremony with food and refreshment vendors will take place at the finish line.
