Beaver Twp. woman sentenced in fatal i-680 crash released early
A Beaver Township woman convicted in a fatal wrong-way crash on I-680 in 2020 will be released after serving 4 months of her sentence.
Police say Jayce Klink drove the wrong way up the exit ramp off of Marshall Street, heading the wrong way on I-680 before colliding with another car. The passenger in the car, 35 Year old Tiara Whatley, was killed, and Whatley's sister, the driver of the car, badly injured.
Klink was sentenced to one year in prison earlier this year for Whatley's death, but after four months served, was released by judge Anthony Donofrio on Thursday.
In the hearing, Donofrio referenced two other recent wrong-way driver cases in the same area which resulted only in traffic tickets.
While she may be getting released early, Klink says she'll continue to suffer the consequences of her conduct behind the wheel forever.
"There isn't a day that has gone by in the last two years that I haven't thought about the family, and the victim...I'm never gonna put myself or anybody else in the positions for this situation to happen again," Klink said.
Klink's license will remain suspended for five years.
