Former Mercer Co. bus driver sentenced to house arrest for rape of woman with intellectual disabilities

A former Mercer County bus driver was sentenced to 1-to-2 years minus one day of house arrest for the rape of a woman with intellectual disabilities in August of 2022.
67-year-old Rodney Sealand was sentenced Friday in Judge Tedd Nesbit's courtroom.
Sealand was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person with a mental disability, a first-degree felony; aggravated indecent assault with a person with a mental disability, a second-degree felony; indecent assault of a person with a mental disability, a first-degree misdemeanor.
On Aug. 22, 2022, police were notified of the rape after the parent of the woman with disabilities said her daughter was approximately 45 minutes late getting dropped off from the McAR program, which provides services for adults with disabilities in the county.
Sealand also received eight years of probation and will have to register as a sex offender with the state.
