Poland library fully reopens to public after renovations

The Poland Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is now fully reopened after more than three months of renovations.
The renovations, which started back on May 1st, included an array of improvements to the 10,000 square foot second floor of the facility. According to a release, carpets were replaced, the walls repainted, and the spaces on the floor refreshed to have a more "updated look."
While the renovations were being done, the library was mostly closed to the public except for limited access to the first floor. On August 14th, renovations were officially completed and the facility fully reopened to the public.
According to PLYMC spokesperson Maggie Henderson, the project took place to revitalize the space after the building "hadn't been touched in about 20 years."
Also included in the work were repairs to the clock tower and acoustic improvements to the children's area. The library also expects to obtain new furniture in the following weeks.
The building also received upgrades to it's electric, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Henderson also noted that a new vendor, The Village Farmacy, has moved into their cafe space. The Village Farmacy hosts vegan bazaars once a month, which Henderson says have been "quite popular." The next one is August 17th at 5pm.
All of the updates were conducted by in-house maintenance staff to keep costs low, efforts that resulted in the whole project costing around $350,000, including design and consultation.
