BERLIN CENTER, Ohio - One Valley business is still working to clear damage from the storms last week before they can re-open to visitors.

The storms left a trail of destruction at Noah's Lost Ark Animal Rescue Center in Berlin, forcing them to close until further notice.

The rescue center is a haven for abandoned and mistreated exotic animals, but it is now in desperate need of clean-up assistance so it can reopen to the public.

The storms left behind fallen trees and damage to structures that once provided shelter and safety for the animals. Some animals are now living in confined spaces until their main enclosure is repaired.

Sanctuary Director Ellen Karnofel tells 21 News that damages to the park exceed $50,000 before an estimate to fix the fencing.

The non-profit animal center relies heavily on donations and fee admissions.

While employees work to repair the park, they are also asking for volunteers and donations to help clean up the debris, remove the trees, brush horses, and help replace the fence that keeps visitors and animals safe.

Anyone willing to volunteer with the sanctuary can call (330) 584-7835 or message them on their Facebook page, and a staff member will get back as soon as possible.

There is a donate link available on their website. Karnofel says the sanctuary is a registered nonprofit, and any donations to the park will generate a tax-deductible receipt.
