Brookfield receives FEMA grant to upgrade ambulance

Brookfield Fire and EMS are the recipients of a more than $40,000 FEMA grant targeted at equipment upgrades, according to a post made on their Facebook page late Friday night.
According to the post, their department received $40,084 under FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program. The money will go towards installing a new cot loading system into an ambulance at the facility, allowing a more comfortable loading, unloading, and ride for patients.
The new loading system also creates a safer work environment for Firefighters and EMTs by lowering stress on their bodies as they load and unload patients, lowering the risk of injury and wear and tear over time.
Brookfield Fire and EMS gave special thanks to Captain Nick Cresanto, who works as the department's grant manager. On top of working on emergency calls, Cresanto is responsible for making sure that all the proper paperwork is filed to make the department eligible for these kinds of grants.
"On large grants, such as these, he works hand in hand with grant writers to be certain we make deadlines and that all of our i’s are dotted and our t’s are crossed. Thanks Captain for your hard work," Brookfield Fire & EMS wrote in the post.
