Former Newton Falls man, imprisoned for sex offenses, charged with new crimes

WARREN, Ohio - A former Newton Falls man serving a prison sentence of 10 years to life has been secretly indicted on new sex charges.
The Trumbull County Grand Jury has handed up an indictment charging Mark Thompson with one count of gross sexual imposition, and three counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance.
According to the indictment, in 2019 Thompson had sexual contact with a person who was mentally or physically impaired and took nude photographs of a minor.
Thompson, who turns 52 later this month, has been in prison since 2020 serving ten years to life sentence after being convicted of rape, gross sexual imposition, and use of minor in nudity, oriented material.
Newton Falls Police originally charged Thompson under an Ohio law prohibiting anyone from using alcohol or drugs to lower a victim's resistance to unwanted sexual advances.
Thompson is scheduled to be arraigned on the latest charges on Wednesday.
