Austintown to host annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

The Austintown Beautification Committee will host the town's annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at 10 am on Monday, according to a release.
The ceremony will take place at the Austintown 9/11 Memorial park, which is on Raccoon Rd. across from Austintown Middle School.
This year is the 22nd since the deadliest terrorist attack to strike on American soil. The attacks left nearly 3,000 dead and sparked more than two decades of foreign wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as the nation tried to face the terrorist threat head-on.
The Austintown ceremony this year will feature Roberta Simeone, a retired American Airlines flight attendant who was supposed to be on one of the American Airlines flights that crashed that day, but had called off due to illness. Simeone worked with the pilots and the other crew members aboard who died that day.
Music will be provided by the Austintown Fitch High School Band and Choir.
There will also be a 21-gun salute, emergency vehicles on display, and more.
