The United Way of Lawrence County has partnered with Penn State Extension and 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania to offer "Home Buyer Classes."

The classes are designed to educate and inform interested residents on the process of buying a home. These sessions will start by reviewing and accessing your credit report and will be facilitated by Gayle Young of United Way and Darlene Sansone of Penn State Extension.

Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting September 12 and lasting until October 10 at First Presbyterian Church on North Jefferson Street in New Castle.

Sponsors and local financial institutions are providing $50 gift cards to participants who complete the entire five-week sessions. Presenters will include various banks, Neighborhood Legal Services, the PA Realtors Association, Utility Companies and various agents and services.

The program is designed for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed (ALICE) households. ALICE households are defined as those that earn above federal poverty level but less than the basic cost of living.

ALICE families make up 41% of Lawrence County's population according to a press release.

This class is limited, so early registration is encouraged. You can register by calling 724-658-8528.
